The difference which set this vintage carb apart was the vacuum controlled power valve, also known as an economizer valve, which possessed a few glitches. Because of these small problems, it is still argued whether this carb was better than the other well known vintage carb, the Stromberg 97 carburetor, Holley's main competition at the time. Most came to the consensus that neither carburetor was better than the other, it just depended on the type of engine one used it for.
