Holley Performance Products Announces New National Event In Bowling Green

Bowling Green, KY - Holley Performance Products is proud to announce the 2010 Holley LS Fest, scheduled for September 10th thru 12th at Beech Bend Raceway Park, Holley's hometown racetrack in Bowling Green, KY.

The LS Fest is a celebration of the popular GM LS engine and the vehicles that are powered by them. The event promises to be something the area community has never before seen locally, as LS Fest will include an Autocross, Speed-Stop-Challenge, and an Engine Swap Challenge in addition to Drag Racing, a Show-n-Shine and Countryside Cruise. Participants must have a vehicle with an LS engine, but spectators are welcome.

The autocross is designed to put all of a vehicle's components to the test as the driver pilots through a predetermined course where acceleration, handling, and braking all play a part in producing a winning time. The Speed-Stop-Challenge will take place in mere seconds and puts drivers in a competition to see how fast their car can launch from idle, reach maximum speed and screech to stop in a marked off box 1/8 mile away. The Engine Swap Challenge will pit two opposing teams against one another in a race to see who can install an LS engine into a car that did not come with one from the factory. The first team to start the car and get the car moving with the new LS engine will be declared winner and will get to keep the engine. Holley believes this is the first ever live engine swap challenge, and certainly the first in this area.

This event has already received committed exposure from national media. The staffs of Car Craft magazine, Hot Rod magazine, Chevy High Performance magazine, Spike Network's Horsepower TV and more will be on site covering the event.

The LS series of engines is a V8 that has been in factory GM cars and trucks starting around 1997 including the locally built Corvette. It is also finding its way into 1930's style street rods, 1960's muscle cars, off road buggies and nearly any vehicle you can imagine. In addition to the expected Camaros, Holley has confirmed Porches, Nissans, VWs, Jeeps, Mustangs and other makes coming to the event with their LS engines in place.

In reference to the event, Holley's CEO, Tom Tomlinson, said, “We are just a bunch of gear-heads that love GM LS engines. This event will allow us to celebrate these remarkable engines with other GM LS engine enthusiasts and show them the products we produce for them. It will be a serious event, but we also intend to have a lot of fun.” More information can be found at www.holleylsfest.com.
